POETRI AT GREEN! What more can I say about Poetri that hasn't already been said? This guy has been on Broadway, on TV, on pretty much every type of stage and screen you can think of...plus he has his own line of gear, and CDs, and he runs a Poetry Workshop, and he still finds time to co-host Da Poetry Lounge when he's not running around being a superstar...we're always happy to have him around, and I'm excited to see him do his thing on the Palmer stage...POETRI will make you laugh and think and stuff. This week, February 20th, at Green.
ALSO: Don't forget! The Tag Team Slam is coming up February 27th...that's Sam Skow and Lara Kaapuni (Gang Green) vs. Tamara Blue and Bomani (Mic and Dim Lights) vs. Damnyo and George McDonald (Elements) vs. Bowerbird and Mark Shafer vs. ???
JUST ADDED TO THE FEB 27TH SHOW: Charlotte, NC's very own QUEEN SHEBA!
How did February get to be so dope all of a sudden? I think we're going rename it "Dopeuary". Or maybe not.
See ya at the Palmer,
Slim, Jedi, Joshua, and Mike
VALENTINE'S EVE MENAGE A TROIS AT GREEN!Hey, I'm not entirely lying.
First of all, huge propers must be sent the way of NICK YUSEF, who powered his way through our first full-on stand-up comedy feature like a true...comic. We seriously hope Nick will stay in the Green mix in some way, shape, or form in the future...
Now. This Monday. February 13. The night before Valentine's. No less than THREE features on the Palmer stage. Not only are we getting the newly-engaged one-two performance punch of NAZELAH JAMISON and DAHLED hailing from Oakland, but long-time Green supporter and Boston slam superstar CAROLINE HARVEY will be stoking the fires in your loins with her words and verbal skills...
and the world famous DJ JEDI on the ones and twos, of course, playing all the love (or anti-love) songs you can handle.
See ya at the Palmer!
Slim, Jedi, Josh, and Mike
OH YEAH--Our guestbook has been replaced and is better than ever. So...uh, sign it. We survive off of your love.

HOW COOL WAS LAST MONDAY??? HOW COOL WILL THIS MONDAY BE???If you missed it, the Super Hardcore Intervenue Title match was off the chain. Shihan blasted us with verbal acrobatics, Besskepp pounded us with heart, and Paul Mabon really took his game to another level. I felt good about my contribution to the night, too--thanks to Mikecheck and Joshua for making me sound good. And to Sam Skow, who was more cantankerous and evil than I could have imagined. Shihan took the event like a true slam champ, and word is he even wore the S.H.I.T. title belt to Da Poetry Lounge the next night. PLUS Gina Loring got all kinds of verbally freaky--in a PG-13 way, of course...and In-Q just gets better and better every time he comes out. SUCH a great night...and i'll tell you about the follow-up slam we have planned in a minute.
But first, let's talk about the rest of the month.
February 6: It's high time with all these wanna-be comics muckity-mucking around the Green stage to bring on a full-fledged stand up FEATURE, ladies and gentlemen. This guy is highly recommended by resident arbiters of taste Sam Skow and Lara Kaapuni, both who have felt the bitter sting of the comedy whip firsthand. He started when he was a 17-year old virgin, and now he's...21, 22 now, we think. So there you have it. NICK YUSEF bridges the gap between Comedy Store competence and Largo edginess. And he'll be in the house. This week at Green.
February 13: VALENTINE'S EVE! Man, I don't think we could bring you a better show. Triple trouble feature. Three scoops of poetic goodness. First, from Oakland, the dopest couple in slam, NAZELAH JAMISON and DAHLED are gonna bring down the house with heart and funkin' soul. And if that doesn't get you all a-twitter, we have a heartbreaker of a feature in Boston's CAROLINE HARVEY. Caroline makes me melt; she's such a good writer. Did I mention how hot all these features are? Well, see and hear for yourself then. We will.
February 20: Gee--we've never had a TONY winner on our stage before as a feature. And this week, we're proud to bring to the stage...the cabaret antics of NATHAN LANE!!! ...okay. Lane can't make it. but I think we have a suitable Tony-winning substitute: POETRI. The man who did the whole "Def Jam on Broadway" thing. The guy who co-hosts Da Poetry Lounge. The guy who is a damned funny and magnetic guy when he hits the stage (Po, the check better be in the mail). Come see Poetri throw down some Po-Hop at the Palmer Room!
February 27: TAG TEAM SLAM! We had to follow up our first S.H.I.T. Slam with another one that raises the stakes: It's two person teams, doing group pieces for the Super Hardcore Intervenue Tag Team Title! That's right--the S.H.I.T.T-T. Slam is gonna be fierce! Dig this--we have TAMARA BLUE and BOMANI from Mic and Dim Lights! DAMNYO and GEORGE MCDONALD representing Elements! SAM SKOW and LARA KAAPUNI repping Gang Green! OPPOSED THUMB (MARK SHAFER and BOWERBIRD) going gonzo and claiming the whole damned PACIFIC OCEAN! And we don't even KNOW who Da Lounge is gonna send over yet! IT'S GONNA RIP YOU APART!!!
Sorry. Got a little too Ultimate Warrior there. But do you see how great February is? It's all build-up for March and April when we have--but that would be telling.
See you at the Palmer,
Slim, Jedi, Joshua and Mike
