Hey Folks!
Be sure to come out to the THE ROXY for official BLOWOUT BREAKS CD RELEASE & LISTENING PARTY this coming WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30! I'll be commemorating the release of my latest opus by spinning a hot selection of hip-hop and breaks, and topping the night off with a special one-time-only performance of the entire BLOWOUT BREAKS set!!!
For those not in the know: Blowout Breaks is a collection of over 70 minutes of jazz, funk, and soul samples used by the legendary DIGABLE PLANETS (whom I've been touring with as their resident turntablist for the better part of a year) on their first two classic albums, and painstakingly compiled and mixed by yours truly. Prior to now the CD has only been available at Digable Planets shows. This will be one of the first times the Blowout Breaks CD will be made available to the public in LA.

Happy Holidays folks! Hope this missive finds you in good spirits as we kick off this season of consumerism and gluttony. First things first: A super special, larger than life, all capital letters THANK YOU goes to (I can't find the adjective to place here that does her justice!) wordsmith JAHA ZAINABU for rockin' our collective worlds this week!!
In other news, those who made it out to Green this past Monday were among the first to hear that our controversial, earth-shattering, mind-alteringly life changing annoucement is that (drumroll please...) WE'RE MOVING!!!!
Mark your calendars folks: Effective DECEMBER 5TH, our new home will be at:
THE PALMER ROOM (in the back of La Cucina Paradiso)
3387 MOTOR AVE. (between Palms and National on the corner of Woodbine)
The calamity still ensues from 9PM - 12MID, Admission will still be free
and everything you've come to love will remain intact--just in a Palm-ier shade of GREEN!
But before that happens, we promise to go out with a bang for our last night at the UnUrban. Nut-bust November comes to its climactic conclusion on Monday the 27th, as we proudly welcome poetess/emcee/drummer extraordinnaire APRIL KING in her first ever feature at Green!!! The streets ain't ready...
Ratpack Slim is currently fighting a courageous battle against the Flu, but should be back in regular host-mode by Monday, November 27th alongside Joshua and myself.
Come on out and help make our UnUrban swan-song a memorable one!!!!!

If you weren't fortunate enough to make it out to Green this past Monday, then you definitely missed out on a classic installment! All-Star performances from DJ Mikecheck (You have learned well, my young Padwon!), Rhode Island's very own Jack Woods, Kevin Sandbloom, Dez Hope, Duff Lammers, Emily Wells (God bless you, woman!!!), and numerous others!
This week promises to continue in that tradition of Green excitement as we offer up THREE magnificent reasons to leave your homes on a Monday evening:
1) She's one of the most prolific, insightful, and moving performance poets I've come across in my 5+ years on the poetry scene, and my heart swells when I think about how lucky we are to finally have her as a feature. Make it a point to come check out MY personal favorite poet alive on earth right now, JAHA ZAINABU!!! Seriously. She's that good.
2) [THIRD PERSON ALERT!!!] Returning from a wildly successful, yet brief, yet eventful tour with the legendary Digable Planets (along with new BFF's The Crown City Rockers) that has spanned from New Orleans to Vegas to Chicago to Dallas (with a cameo from one Ms. Erykah Badu!!!) and everywhere in between, DJ JEDI is back in the building!!! The guys over here at Green Central would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm and heartfelt thanks to all the folks who did their part in making our evening at the Temple Bar so special!!! Super wooly mammoth big ups go to Jerry Quickly, Kevin Sandbloom, Gina Loring, Fresh City, all affiliated band members, poets, singers, musicians, etc., Gangreen, DJ Mikecheck, Brutha Gimel and the staff at Temple Bar: We couldn't have done it without you!!!!
Most importantly, a special round of thanks goes out to each and every one of you: the friends and family who took the time out of their busy schedules and plunked down their hard earned cash to come and support our little endeavor. We've got big things in store for Green in the upcoming months and we hope you'll continue to come along for the ride....

On 11/14 -- Promoting her upcoming appearance at Molly Malone's, as well as her latest opus, 'Making Static', Green is proud to welcome back the beautiful acoustic musical stylings of EMILY WELLS!!!
On 11/21 -- She very well may may be my favorite poet on earth, yet somehow we've never been priveledged enough to have her as a feature until now -- Just in time to celebrate JEDI's long awaited (kinda) return from most recent leg of the DIGABLE PLANETS Reunion Tour, poetry goddess JAHA ZAINABU!!!!
On 11/28 -- Black Lily Drummer, poet, MC, and all around bad-ass hot chick, there's no telling what's in store when Green welcomes APRIL KING in her feature debut!!!!!
