Props to Joe and Jedi for bringing poetry to the stage in an amazing show!
props to MICHAEL C FORD and other news...sorry i've been remiss in updating, Greenerinos...more on that in a second.
Green this past Monday (August 15) was blessed with the wit and wisdom of spoken word commando and LA literary champ
Michael C Ford, who once again brought the page to the stage in a packed house that was digging every syllable. Michael was a joy and a consummate pro, once again proving that there is life before, after, and outside of slam...
Also glad to see such a dope mix of old and new folks on the mic this past week, including super OG Green regulars like Bronwynn, Jorge, and Michelle Dougherty, who joined our current fam like Manuel, Lee Sloca, Erik Haber, Paul Jay, UnSaen (who was Uncle Robert this week) and Amber Rose; as well as always welcome faces like Sardonyx Jade and Brutha Gimel...
This Monday also marked the last appearance of Jedi on the 1's and 2's for a while, as he is now back on the road being a Digable Planet superstar (we've unofficially named him "DJ Junebug"). MikeCheck is back with us next week, so give him daps when you see him, please...!
Speaking of slam...Just got back from the National Poetry Slam where I repped Southern Cali on Team Hollywood (along with Rives, Javon Johnson, Crystal Irby, Simply Kat, and slammaster Shihan). It was an amazing week of spoken word...and Hollywood fought our way into finals, where we took 3rd in the nation (out of 75 teams)! Very proud to be part of such a humbling event. (Oh--props to Shihan, who rocked a "Green" t-shirt at our semi-finals bout!)
Stay tuned to find out who's coming through in the next few Mondays...our momentum is crazy right now, folks, and I can't wait to share it with y'all.
See ya at the UnUrban,
Slim for Jedi, Joshua, and Mike
